Graduation Date

The Graduation date for Chance is set! It's January 20, 2011 at Fort Jackson, SC. I am so proud of him for making it these last two months! Only about a month left until he's off to AZ for AIT. He has accomplished so much in two months, he truly is amazing. He can run 2 miles in 14:45 and is already above requirements for graduating from AIT, what an accomplishment. Chance will be home in 6 days, but who's counting! I can't wait to see him!!

10 Weeks and an Update on Chance

Yesterday I had an ultrasound and got to see our precious little unborn baby. It's so amazing what technology enables us to do. I was in aww as I watched my little baby wave. It was the most precious thing I had ever seen. Yesterday the heart rate was 170 BPM, at my last Ultrasound, at 8 weeks, the heart rate was 171 BPM. If the old wives tale is correct, it may just be a little girl. But we'll find out soon enough on December 29th while Chance is home on Christmas leave.

This was the first Ultrasound on a machine that is as old as I am. As you can tell by the next one, technology has come a long way. In this first one, the baby is 8 wks and 1 day.

This is the second Ultrasound at 10 wks. Everything looks great! I will never forget it's little hand waving!!

As of now, the Expected Due Date is June 22, 2011. We shall see if it stays the same throughout the pregnancy

22 Days Until Chance is home!!!!!

Chance is doing well. I got to talk to him for about two and a half hours today. He is through the difficult parts. I don't think he is as home sick now and the other men and women in his Platoon are starting to get along better now that they aren't being mass punished for each others' mistakes. He spent two days over the weekend sick. He had a high fever and a touch of strep, he was also dehydrated. I really don't like hearing that stuff, but it explains why I hadn't received any mail from him in almost a week. I'm glad that he is doing well and having such a positive outlook! I am so proud of you, Chance!!!

Update!!

Chance has been in Basic Training for a few weeks now. I am very proud of him for doing this. It's hard not being able to see him all the time, but oddly enough, it is bringing us much closer. "Absence makes the heart grow fonder" couldn't be more true for the both of us. I've received about 6 letters from his thus far. He is doing great, just a little homesick, but nothing to be too discouraged by, I hope! I got a phone call from him two days ago, it was definitely the SHORTEST 9 minutes of my life. It felt like 10  seconds. There was so much to talk about, and not near enough time to say it all.

43 days until he is home for Christmas. He'll be home for about two weeks! I am so excited!!

Another New Addition

Last Friday, October 15th, we found out that we are having a baby!! We aren't yet sure how far along we are or when it is due. But we couldn't be more happy!! Although Chance is gone for the next 8 months with only 2 weeks home for Christmas, we are still looking forward to having a baby.

Dirty Dog

Oaklee's new entertainment is dirt.. She digs in it and watches in wonder as the dirt blows off. I have never seen a dog have so much fun! She is supposed to be white and fawn color... but after she's been in dirt, there is no white. Needless to say, she desperately needed a bath afterwards!!

She looks a little disappointed in this picture.

Go Fetch!

Today has been a fun day with Oaklee. I am sick and Chance is out of town again for work. So I am still her number one source of entertainment. Oaklee is doing a lot better with pottying! She hasn't gone on my bed for a couple days now!! (Thank goodness!!) She goes to the door when she needs to go potty. Sometimes though if you don't get to her in time, she'll just go on the rug in front of the door. But she is learning!! She LOVES being outside. If I would let her, she'd be out there all day. Her favorite toy is a pink tennis ball. I am amazed that she can haul that thing around. She loves playing fetch with it!!

Meet Oaklee!!

This is Oaklee McCollum. We got her Saturday, September 11, 2010. She was born May 17, 2010.
She is a Female Chihuahua. She has a lot of personality and is really attached to Chance. She chooses him over me... Which is not fair because I try to spend more time with her.
I am excited that we have her. She makes it easier on me when Chance is gone for work. I hate leaving her when I have to go to work. I hate to know that she is sitting in her kennel crying. She is very smart, she is semi potty trained. It won't be much longer til that is complete. She can already sit on demand. She is sweet natured. She loves to give puppy kisses. Can't wait til you all can see her!

Yikes!!!

So this last Tuesday I started my job at Sonlight Preschool, young 3's. Most of these children are still 2... There are 3/9 children that are potty trained... so what does that mean? Yes, I change diapers and pull ups all day. These children are not used to being away from Mommy and Daddy and I get the butt end of it all.
Thank goodness it is only two days a week... or I would look like this ALL the time. It is definitely the most challenging job I have had and nap time just can't come fast enough. NINE two and a half and three year olds are just too much to handle!! I hope I can find another job soon, this one just wears me right out...

Amarillo By Morning

So, last weekend Chance and I made the long, boring drive back to Texas. We headed out Friday evening around 7:30 and arrived in Cortez around 2 AM. We stayed the night there because we were both so exhausted. We woke up around 10 the next morning and we were back on the road around 11. We FINALLY got to Amarillo around 9 PM. Who would have thought driving could wear you out so badly?!?!

Chance has a job welding, and things are going a lot more smoothly this time around.
I have a job working at Sonlight Preschool at The Church of Christ. I start next Tuesday (September 6th)

I love being here with Chance's family. His parents are so sweet and caring.
Although, I do miss mine a lot.

Rodie is making up for the absence of Randall.
It's odd having a little sister, I'm used to being the baby of the family.
I miss David, even though I thought he was such a pain in the butt.
I miss Angie, and I can't wait to see her soon.
Riley keeps me entertained with his random comments about "The Waterhead Family"
I have a new sleeping partner, Chica. She is a pain in the butt to sleep with sometimes... but it's better than nothing.

My eyes aren't playing tricks on me, no more outlines of mountains in the distance.
It's flat, dry, hot...... and not so pretty here.
I miss the mountains and the lush green grass and trees.

Homesick?? I think so...
